DeGolyer Estate in Dallas Dressed For the Holidays

DeGolyer Estate in Dallas is dressed for the holidays.  The historic house was built by architects Burton Schutt and Denman Scot in the Spanish Colonial Revival Style.  It was home to late Everette L. DeGolyer a geophysicist, lawyer, and oilman.  His wife Neil and her husband worked as a team to be a generous Philanthropist in the Dallas Community.  They held wonderful parties during the holiday season.

Tour the home and you can see portraits of their children hanging on the wall.

Christmas trees are adorned with figures of the season.

Pastel pink bedspreads are soothing to the eye.
A beautiful chaise lounge is placed in front of the window so you can have a view of the Dallas Arboretum Garden.
Showing photographs of the past unites the old with the new.
Neil DeGolyer made many decisions during the Holiday season to tell the story of Christmas.

They were a family of faith and collected Nativity scenes from all over the world.
Table tops have red and gold Christmas Trees.

Red ribbon draped the trees.

Everette DeGolyer loved to read as revealed in his extensive library.
The world globe in the Library showed the connection with travel.

The beautiful Nativity Scene showed the birth of Emmanuel God With us in Bethlehem.
Shepherds saw a heavenly host to announce the newborn King.

Mary and Joseph had to go to Bethlehem to pay their taxes.

Three Wise Men came to see baby Jesus as they studied the stars to reveal where He was born.

The DeGolyer China was etched in gold.

The home is on the National Register of Historic Places.  It is on a 44 acre estate on the shores of White Rock Lake.  The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society keeps the home maintained.  The location is 8525 Garland Road in Dallas.
Tours are included in the cost of your ticket for 15 dollars for adults and 9 dollars for children.
The garden is open for each season of the year.

Decorating for New Years 2022

To Decorate for New Years 2022 I used glasses from previous years to celebrate the New Year.  I thought the upside down balls remind us of the crystal ball in times square.
I have a giant China Cabinet I store glassware in.  I got out the 2001 glass to remind me of the year the 21st century started.  It also ushered in the 3rd millennium.
I also have the 2000 glassware when it was a giant party to celebrate turning from 1999 to 2000.

It's fun to take items you already have to make them festive.
We are having a New Years Day Celebration and I wanted to come up with something different for a statement.
I collected glassware from 2016.  The UK voted to leave the European Union, The Paris Climate Change Agreement went into effect, and the Ikea Museum opened in Almhult, Sweden.
I have a glass for 2017.  A device was invented to help regrow skin for burn victims.  Southwest Airlines flew a plane full of puppies to safety after Hurricane Harvey.  Our family adopted our beloved cat Cheesecake from a Hurricane Harvey rescue.  Saving items from the past is a way to connect the future.  Happy 2022!  What new scientific advances will be made?

Decorating for Christmas With Aqua and Red

Decorating for Christmas with aqua and red compliments the two contrasting colors on the color wheel.
Red poinsettias in a blue vase are at the center of the table.  Two pearl Christmas trees are on each end of the dining room table.  My mother purchased them at the Neiman Marcus Christmas sale.
Aqua chargers are ready for plates on the dining room table with snowmen napkins in the center.
Red poinsettias add color to the collection of tea pots.
The wise men are dressed in a red cape and aqua jewels.  They came to give gifts to the Newborn King.
The manger scene showing the birth of Jesus in the town of Bethlehem reminds us for the reason for the season.
An ivory angel is placed in the center of the Christmas tree with aqua bulbs.
A shimmery bow with silver is draped on top of the tree.
A collection of Christmas ornaments brings back memories of the past.
Oh holy night the angels are rejoicing.  A Savior Christ our King is born in a manger.  Emmanuel means God With Us.

Joy to the World the Lord has come!
