French Country Dining Room: Comfort Grey Paint Color Contrasting Cobalt Urns

Every French Country Dining room needs a beautiful chandelier to shine with sparkles. The Chandelier came with our dining room because it was a model home built in 1980.   I painted the room a beautiful color from Sherwin Williams called Comfort Grey.  The color changes as light passes through the room.  Sometimes it looks a soothing soft green.  It compliments the drapes I created from the fabric purchased at Cutting Corners.

I purchased the Antique French Country 19th Century Urns at an estate sale in our neighborhood..  They are styled in cobalt blue and a wonderful contrast with Comfort Grey.  The Urns are very collectable with romantic French scenes from the country side.  Escape to the times of romantic courtships.
The set was commisioned for the Chateau De Clois.  It was created in a licenced Servres porcelain factory with the inital S under the laureate banner.  Le Chateau Du Clos is an historic place to visit in France.  Leonardo da Vinci came to live at the Chateau for three years.  Leonardo was inspired at this magical place by working as an engineer, theatrical director and organised lavish festivities for the French Court.  When I gaze at the urns it reminds me of the rich history behind French Country Decorating many people are not aware of.
The Victorian period is also regarded as the era of Romanticism.  Courtship was considered to be a tradtion.  Queen Victoria inspired this age because of her deep love for her husband.
Social rules for the Victorian era were very strict.  Ladies would have a coming out party at a ball or dance.  The girls were not aloud to be alone so usually an older relative came on the date.  The umbrella protected ladies from the sun.   French Country is steeped with traditions of the past.
My mother covered my cane back chairs with a beautiful striped cloth of aqua and blue.

A dining room is a great place to share family meals on a cold winter day.

Chicken Vegetable Soup Great Way to Start 2021

Chicken Vegetable Soup is a great way to start out the New Year of 2021

I'm grateful for my windowsill herb garden because I picked fresh Oregano for a spice.
The red peppers from our Texas Garden added some spice to the soup.
Fresh Cauliflower growing in our garden mades a delicious vegetable in our soup.
Brussel Sprouts add texture to the vegetable soup.
The Grow Light I purchased from Amazon is keeping our fresh Basil alive.  It makes the soup taste great.
Fennel growing in our Texas Garden adds a fresh flavor.

Having Chicken Vegetable soup cooking in the crockpot makes your whole house smell delicious.   I made it at 8:00 on New Years morning and it was ready by lunch.   Mushrooms makes any soup taste better and they remind me of France.   Hot soup warms you up on a cold winter day.

Happy New Year
