Decorating for Christmas with Poinsettias 2024

Decorating with poinsettias is a Christmas tradition in our home.  I was so inspired by this plant that grows wild in Central America and Mexico that I drew an acrylic picture of it.  Joel Roberts Poinsetti gave the flower its name because he discovered it growing wild in Taxco and brought it back to South Carolina.  He was a US ambassador to Mexico in 1825 and a botanist who loved to grow them in his green house.

I decorated our holiday table with a poinsettia table cloth.  The Flower arrangement I purchased at a local estate sale was used for Christmas too because it was so easy to add the red flower from Michaels and Hobby Lobby.  I try to buy the flowers that don't look fake without glitter.  But if you like glitter those are pretty too.
I put the beautiful red flower in our Christmas Tree next to the angel.  It adds a festive colour and very easy to decorate.  I used the clip on Poinsettia flower.

When you stand back it glows with a red colour of the Christmas season.

Packages under the tree all wrapped for Christmas.

I decorated the staircase with poinsettias with the clip on flower.

I added a big red bow for color.

I put poinsettias in the flower arrangement above the three wise men who came to see baby Jesus because they studied the stars.  The Poinsettia flower is in the shape of the star of Bethlehem.

I put them in a flower arrangement on a small table in our dining room to say Merry Christmas.

I put them in the entry hall on a small French Country Table I purchased at an estate sale.

I purchased a new harp table from an estate sale that is perfect for our dining room.

Jesus in the Reason for the Season Christmas Ornament goes great with the red poinsettias on our tree.  The poinsettia flower is on a sand dollar on our tree.  It is etched in the shell found in the ocean all over the world to remind us of Jesus Birthday.  Even though we don't know the exact day He was born there is historical documents showing the Messiah was born in the town of Bethlehem which means House of Bread.

This cross photograph was taken on the edge of the sea in Portugal.

Mural of Christ is the bread of life on a wall in the Azores of Portugal.

I love to see how different cultures celebrate the Christmas Season.  Hope you enjoyed seeing how I celebrate this holiday season with the beauty of a flower.
